It does not need to be a miniature device though, a standard PC controlling the dome of a telescope fits this category as well.

USB
The industry standard way to connect all kinds of embedded devices to PCs nowadays is USB. Depending on the kind of device, the firmware (on the device) and eventually some additional device specific software on the PC may be needed. The aprisoft team will develop both (firmware and pc software) for you - and if you prefer, the hardware of the device as well.

Networking
For more powerfull appliances, special solutions (i.e. devices offering an integrated web server), or higher bandwidth requirements, ethernet is a common medium. TCP/IP or IPv6 are no problem for our team.

A completely different medium, especially suitable for sensors with small data volume, are radio connections in one of the license free bands (433 or 868 MHz in europe, or 915 MHz in north america). We have comprehensive experience with this technology.

 

Individual items/small batches
By using components targeted for mass market applications, like cell phone displays or sensors made for automotive supplies, reusing them in different context, creating low priced individual items or small batches of high tech solutions is possible nowadays. Using cheap microcontrollers (like breaking flies on a wheel) make for extremely quick and easy hardware developement, leaving the creation of firmare and/or software as the main effort. Furthermore this create new levels of flexibility for the applicatin features.

Put the whole process - from hardware over firmware to application software on the PC into one hand - to avoid any potential communication failures.

Firmware
If you already have the hardware design ready, or bought a reference design, we still can do the needed firmware (and if needed the PC application software).
